It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a wonderful and loving man. On the evening of Saturday, September 18, 2010, in his 52nd year, Vince was welcomed into Heaven by his loving wife Angela as well as many other angels. Loving father to Theresa Marie, Paul Michael and the late Mark Vincent. Beloved son of Gloria and the late Joseph D’Onofrio, adored brother to the late Lawrence and Joanne D’Onofrio and Clementina D'Onofrio. He will be deeply missed by his fiancée, Mary Crevar, who brought him much joy in the past few years. Vince was admired by many, especially his mother-in-law Dora and the late Umberto Gatto, cherished brother-in-law of Joanna and Robert McGowan and Tony and the late Diana Cherubin. Loving uncle and mentor to his nephews Andrew-Christian, Anthony, Joshua, Drew-Mathew and Nicholas. He will also be greatly missed by his extended family and the McCaffrey family. Vince’s smile endeared everyone he met, he gave of himself in an unconditional way, always thinking of others before himself.

He was exceedingly proud to be a member of the Hamilton Fire Department and will be missed by all of his “brothers”.
Those who knew Vince knew he loved his family very much and focused all his strength in keeping them together and strived to better the lives of his children. He took pride in his house looking spectacular with his beautiful garden and amazing Christmas light display. His passions included playing golf, painting and puttering around the house. Vince’s presence lit up any room and we will always remember his jokes and life stories of the past and these memories will live on in our hearts forever. Vince carried others so unselfishly whether at home, at work or in the community.

He was involved with the Ancaster Minor Hockey Association, Knights of Columbus, Relay for Life and the Canadian Cancer Society.

No matter the struggles he may have endured, Vince always stayed strong in his faith and continued to be a great example of Christian morals. Vince valued his friendships tremendously, especially that of Paolo Presutti and Robert McGowan who were truly his brothers and confidants.

Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Wednesday from 4-9 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at Cathedral of Christ The King Church on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 10 a.m.

Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.

In kindness, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the National Ovarian Cancer Association would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
