Last Alarm

Earl Francis (Smitty) Smith
March 5, 1935 - August 1, 2015

Service Dates
January 2, 1960 to November 30, 1990

In his 81st year, Earl peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family and in the arms of his loving wife of 59 years, Orma, at St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton. Predeceased by his parents Earl and Dorothy Smith, also predeceased by Brothers Eddy (Madeline), Bob (Helen) and Bill (Brenda) and will be sadly missed by Sister Barb (Larry). He was an amazing father to Linda (Frank) and Sue (Dave), proud grandpa to Carla, Rocco, Michael and Jeffrey and proud great-grandpa to Angelina. He will be also missed by his many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Our dad has left a lifetime of memories to so many family and friends while serving his country in the Royal Canadian Navy and being retired from the Hamilton Fire Department after 30 years of devoted and compassionate service.

He enjoyed playing golf, horseshoes, going to the trailer, taking Orma to the mall and being a jokester.

We would like to give a special thanks to the staff at St. Peter's Hospital. Especially nurses Sarah and Cindy for their kindhearted care they provided.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial Service at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11 am with reception to follow.

Expressions of sympathy can be made way by donations to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
