BEATTIE, David Bert Surrounded by his loving family, “Swell Guy” Dave Beattie finished his long battle with cancer on Monday, October 1, 2012, completing a full 77 years of life. Loving husband of 56 years to Gloria (Lavenbein), caring father of Kevin (Julie) Beattie, Theresa (Ed) MacKay and Laurie (Ralph) Kendall. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Annie (Michael), James (Kierstyn), Tom, Will, David (Magdalena), Ryan, Denise (Kory), Laura-Lei (Sheldon) and Alicia. Pre-deceased by his parents Bert and Ruby and step-father Frank Ryan, his sister Joyce. Brother of Terry Ryan and uncle to Meghan (Rich), Eric, Katie and Liam. Sadly missed by the “Gang” of friends for fifty years and special uncle to their children.

Dave, retired from the Hamilton Fire Department after 30 years of service in 1986, continued his public service for 25 years with the WSIB Appeals Tribunal.

Member of St. John’s Lodge #40, Hamilton.

Visitation at the M.A. Clark & Sons Funeral Home (567 Upper Wellington Street) on Wednesday October 3, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, (435 Mohawk Rd. W., Hamilton) with visitation 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Burial to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation was Dave’s preference.
