Passed away suddenly, in his 69th year,
at his home in Ancaster, on Wednesday, September 22, 1993. Tony
was born September 25, 1923 in Toronto and later became a
longtime resident of the city of Hamilton and the town of
Ancaster. Son of the late Mateo and Lucia, beloved husband to
Mary (Sliker) for 43 years, father to Gary and Dennis,
father-in-law to Diane and grandfather to Portia, Avery, Tyler
and Jade, brother to the late Patrick and Albert, brother-in-law
to Norma and Rosemary and beloved uncle to many nieces and
nephews.Sadly missed, but fondly remembered. His sense of family
and dedication to it, binds us all!
Tony was a veteran of WWII, serving six
years in the Argyl and Sutherland Highlanders and was the
recipient of the France and Germany Star C.V.S.M. and Clasp.
Upon leaving military service, Tony
joined the Hamilton Fire Department where he served as a
Firefighter First Class, from 1949 to 1983. During his service,
he received the Exemplary Service Medal and the Fire Marshal's
Long Service Medal.
Throughout his life, Tony was very
active in Police Minor Sports, nd activities for young people.
Many will remember his efforts along with his brother, Albert in
the creation and development of the Red Hill Bowl Park in
Hamilton's east end. In 1970, in recognition for his efforts
over the years, he was awarded the Police Minor Thurston
Memorial Trophy for outstanding contribution to Youth.
Funeral Service Friday 1 pm from the
FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James).
Private cremation to follow. Visiting
Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
