After a short illness at the Hamilton General Hospital on Monday, July 1, 1985, in his 38th year, John Arthur McGee, beloved husband of Gail (nee Lane). Loving father of Jason and Brandon. Son-in-law of Mr and Mrs Doug Fletcher and Melody. Close friend of Jim Cardwell and John Eitel. Son of Mr. and Mrs. John McGee Sr. Brother of Lynda, Kay and George, all of Hamilton. John was a Lieutenant on the Hamilton Fire Department with 18 years service. The family will receive friends at the CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Aveue East from 7-9 pm. A FUNERAL service will be held tomorrow for an 18-year veteran of the Hamilton Fire Department.

John McGee, 38, a lieutenant with the department, died Monday in Hamilton General Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. McGee underwent surgery to repair a blood vessel in his brain in early June and later lapsed into a coma, said Jim Cardwell, a longtime friend.

Mr. Cardwell said that with Mr McGee's death, the fire department has lost "a dedicated firefighter."

The father of two boys, , Mr. McGee was active in the Boy Scouts and was on the fire department's fund-raising committees for muscular dystrophy and the Hamilton General Hospital's regional Burn Unit.

A funeral service, with honor guard of firefighters, will be held in the chapel at the Cresmount Funeral Home, Fennell Avenue East, tomorrow at 11 am.
