It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Dove, a beloved husband and father who passed away at Juravinski Hospital on October 18, 2026, at the age of 78.John was the devoted husband of Julie Bishop-Dove, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, memories, and family. He was a loving father to their children Jarod, Jessica and John. Son of Auralie (deceased), Roy (deceased) and Denise Dove.  Cherished brother of Marie, Roy, Bill, Rick, Maureen, Jim, Hélène and Robert.

John was a courageous warrior and battled cancer for 18 months to achieve his goal of attending Jarod’s wedding to Julia on Thanksgiving weekend where he celebrated wholeheartedly with family and friends.  Family was an important part of his life, and he took great pride in watching his children grow and build lives of their own.

John dedicated 35 years of his life to the Hamilton Fire Department, serving with commitment and courage. He retired as District Chief, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication to the community and colleagues he worked alongside throughout his career.

John will be remembered for his years of service, love for his family, unique sense of humour, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of those around him.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, extended family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life is being planned for December 19th with details to follow.
