He was killed Jan. 20, 1908, while fighting a fire at the
Hamilton Street Railway barns at Herkimer and Locke streets.
He was part of a crew that set up in an alley. A wall gave way
and fell down on him. His body was recovered an hour later.

Robert Kirkpatrick Creen, 38, had been a firefighter in Hamilton
since 1899.
He left behind a wife and eight children, according to the book
Their Last Alarm, Honouring Ontario's Firefighters by Robert
Kirkpatrick. Creen is buried in Millgrove Cemetery.
