In his 91st year, after a lengthy illness, George passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He leaves behind his loving wife of 68 years, Diane. His proudest accomplishments are his 3 children, sons Russ (Maria), Craig (Lynda) and his daughter Robyn. Predeceased by his infant daughter Tracy. Proud Grandfather of Michael, Carleigh (Ryan), Sabrina (Nathan), Chelsea, Lindsey (Ian), Jason (Cheryl), Josh (Rebecca) and his 6 Great Grandchildren. Survived by his brothers Samuel and Bruce (Eleanor).

For 35 years, George was a dedicated firefighter with the City of Hamilton.

In addition, George was also an industrious businessman. One of his greatest passions was fishing which turned into a 2nd career and he remains a legend on the water. He was an authority on everything fishing, he repaired rods and reels for sporting goods retailers nationwide under the business name Anglers Tackle Service and for 40 years he was known as 'The Reel Doctor'. He also ran fishing charters on Lake Ontario for many years. Further, he was featured on the cover of "Ontario Fisherman" and made numerous guest appearances on the TV program of the same name. For the next chapter of his life, George could be found on Otter Lake, puttering in his boat house, fly-fishing off the dock and in the winter months... snowmobiling with family and neighbours around the Bancroft area.

The Archibald family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, Palliative Team and PSW's at St. Joseph's Satellite facility in downtown Hamilton for their outstanding care, compassion and understanding. The common theme heard from the staff was that they always enjoyed George's humor and his stories. George and Diane have been longtime supporters of St. Matthews House Seniors Program and the St. Joseph's Healthcare Foundation. The family would appreciate that any donation please be made to either of these organizations.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life which will be announced at a later date.

May he sleep well tonight and every night

And may the streams be full where he fishes

And his friends and family happy to see him

Good night my love

Good night!
